For those who are not that familiar with these terms, I thought it would be good to come up with a short FAQ on it! Hope it helps!
Pre-Order (PO)
Q: What is a pre-order?
A: A pre-order is created when the stocks for it have not arrived in Loef’s warehouse yet. The items are launched for shoppers to order in advance. Loef will then place the order for the stocks based on what shoppers have ordered. This ensures that the design can be made available to more people and if sizes are available, that everyone can get the optimal size for themselves.
Q: Do we pay now or after the items arrive in Singapore?
A: You need to pay now as we will order the stocks based on confirmed purchases.
Q: How long does it usually take for the stocks to be delivered to me?
A: It usually takes 4 weeks or more. The estimated date of arrival will be stated on the product description. Once the stocks arrive, it will take about 2 days for us to mail the items out to you.
Q: What is the possibility of it being out of stock?
A: As the quantity is not fixed beforehand, there is a lesser chance that it will get out of stock the first 3 days it is launched. We will place the order with the manufacturer after 3 days, with a few extra pieces for buffer. Once the extra pieces are taken up, it is very likely that the item will be sold out.
Q: What happens if I place an order that consists of a “pre-order” item and another that is instock at the moment?
A: As it is a single order, the items will be shipped out as one parcel. The instock item will be held till the pre-order item arrives. We will then mail the items out together when the pre-order item arrives. Hence, if you prefer to receive the instock items first, please place separate orders for the two items.
Back-Order (BO)
Q: What is a back-order?
A: Backorders are opened when the instocks for a design have been sold out, and the demand and requests for this item is high. The main difference between a backorder and a pre-order is that a backorder is opened for items that have been sold out while a pre-order is opened for items that have not yet been launched or sold. Other than that, they are pretty much similar, in the sense that the stocks are not physically in our warehouse at the time the backorders and pre-orders are first opened, and the stock quantity that Loef brings in will depend largely on the orders that shoppers have placed for the items. Hence, all the other aspects like payment and shipping will be the same for a BO and PO.
Made-to-order (MTO)
Q: What does Made-to-Order mean?
A: Loef actually manufactures some of its own labels in Singapore. This ensures quality control and needless to say, the workmanship far exceeds that of items manufactured in other Asian countries. As the manufacturing cost in Singapore is very high, the items are only made upon order. In addition, there are times when we manfacture items in various sizes, colours and various lengths. An example of this is an upcoming Dip Back Maxi Skirt we’re launching in the next few weeks. There’ll be 3 sizes for it and we’re making it in two different lengths to cater for taller girls and those who prefer to match their skirts with heels. With so many different permutations to consider, it is better for us to “make the items only upon order”.
If you have any other questions regarding these special types of orders, drop us an email at feedback@loef.sg and we’ll add on more FAQs! =)
