It was a dinner date in town and as usual, I’d suss out what she was wearing, how much it cost and why she loves it.

Jess goes on these twice-a-year sabbatical trips to countries like Rome, Paris, Japan, etc and gathers her fashion insights and luxury brands from these countries so I love to seek her opinion on the styles and designs we should manufacture.

That night, Jess was decked out in a soft Raoul shift dress that was classy and uber smooth to touch. I found out that it was her favourite dress and she’d always wear it the moment it came out from the wash. That was pretty often judging from the humongous amount of clothes she owns: enough to rotate a different outfit 365 days of the year!

The inspiration and desire to create a shift dress that was as good as the one she loved was borne. Combine this with the requests we’ve received to bring back our previous duo tone shift dress and we have the Jess Shift Dress, manufactured lovingly by Loef!

Two samples were made for this dress, first in polyester crepe, which was rejected as the fabric didn’t feel right and later on in quality polyester. No cost was spared and we invested in quality acetate lining for maximum comfort. Presenting to you the final product…

Actual color is one shade lighter and less bright

A lilac shade was picked for a Spring accent and cream was selected for the bottom portion for a contrast that also complemented the lilac shade very well. Quality polyester was picked for the upper portion while a slightly heavier fabric was used for the cream portion to give it a better fall.

Shifts dresses will never be shapeless with these accentuating darts sewn at the back!

Quality lining, smooth zipper and excellent tailoring, with the lining joint seamlessly to the facing (top hem) of the dress.

Inject some quirkiness with a mock collar.

Don’t be fooled by the lighting and hollow mannequin. This dress is totally non-sheer under nudies.

Waterfall drapes tube dress in red

This is Taylor, doing the first round of fitting. The black drape probably looks quite ugly to you now but it’s a rough mock up of the actual design.

Ta-dah! First sample is out! We’ll be modifying the fabric to a softer and slightly thicker one to have the drapes mimc rose petals. No cost was spared to achieve the perfect feel and fall and we’re even using quality acetate for the lining so you can afford designer quality at affordable prices!

Birthday-cum-office warming celebration

Loef’s birthday is also approaching and we’re planning for a small celebration cum office warming party complete with free makeovers, preview of unreleased items and instore promotions! The pace at Loef has been so intense ever since we moved to our new office that I haven’t had the time to do up a blog preview for our last launch. Most of the work in relation to the shift has been completed with the exception of some final touch-ups and you wouldn’t believe this, our signboard. Everyday, a new need for a desk, cabinet space, multi-plug or some other furniture or hardware surfaces. Coupled with the hectic schedule we follow to run our operations, we really haven’t had the time to do up our signboard!

Photoshoots are less of a hassle now but our latest shoot saw a change in lighting conditions with the addition of a new mirror to the office. More work to be done for that!

On the manufacturing frontline, things have gotten more exciting as we now have an inhouse tailor with an excellent backing of experience and training to put our designs to thread and cloth! No more long waits for Loef’s own label!
